Schroth Therapy

Scoliosis is a complex three-dimensional deformity of the spinal colum that causes structural changes in the three planes of the spine (frontal, sagittal and transverse plane) and may occur in all vertebral segments.
Created in 1921 by the German physiotherapist Katharina Schroth, the Schroth therapy has since been redeveloped to become one of the most effective conservative approaches for the treatment of scoliosis. Schroth therapy is a very specific treatment to scoliosis based on many studies and clinical reasoning. The Schroth Therapy provides tools to thorough assess and distinct of the scoliosis the different types of scoliosis to then establish a proper and personalised treatment aiming:

  • Avoidance of surgery

  • Deceleration or prevention of further progression

  • Stabilisation of spinal correction in all the three plans of movement

  • Increase chest mobility and respiratory function

  • Spine symmetry (cosmetic improvements)

  • Postural awareness and control of postural changes

  • Home exercise program

  • Support for brace treatment when necessary.
